Did you know to legally drive; New Jersey auto insurance is required? It is against the law in the state to drive without auto insurance, and for those who take the risk, fines can be imposed as well as the suspension of your driving privileges along with the vehicle registration.

The state of New Jersey requires that all drivers carry three types of insurance:Liability, Personal Injury Protection (PIP), and uninsured motorist coverage. The Liability coverage covers damages caused to the other party involved in an accident that was caused by your negligance. This coverage will not pay for any damages to your personal vehicle or property. PIP coverage pays the costs of your medical bills resulting from the accident. Uninsured motorist coverage kicks in if you are involved in an accident with a motorist who does not carry the required auto insurance or whose coverage limits are not enough to pay for the entire damages of the accident.

The Liability policy must include $15,000 worth of bodily injury protection, with a $30,000 maximum for all injured parties, as well as $5,000 in property damage coverage. PIP policies must include $15,000 worth of coverage. Your uninsured motorist coverage must include a policy of $15,000, with a $30,000 maximum.

Many drivers choose to take policies higher than these amounts because of the fact that even a minor accident can quickly add up to hundreds of thousands of dollars in damages. There are also additional types of coverage a driver can choose to take out, including collision and comprehensive coverage.
